One more month to go!

So, we've been living with jeff's parents for just over a month and we have one more to go until we can move into our house! I'm very very excited. Today we are going to pick out tile for our kitchen and bathrooms, last week we ordered the carpet and the dishwasher! It's all starting to come together, so I can't wait. And I found a cute sectional for sale for dirt cheap and it came with an ottoman (what I've been dying to have for almost 10 years)! It's been a lot of fun to get to choose this stuff, and in about a week it's going to get to the tough part. Jeff's got to install all the carpet and the tile before we can move in. I can tell you now, he's got a lot of work ahead of him! Good luck honey!

The Host

Holy cow! They're going to make the Host into a Movie!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it on Stephenies web page, but it's true! I am really excited! I love the Host and I always thought it would make a fantastic movie!! I can't wait.....

Sold At Last!

Well, almost. I guess my title should be "Under Contract At Last", but you get the idea. Anyway, we finally got an offer we could work with and we are going to close on the sale of our condo on Friday! We've been working hard the past week and a half boxing up our lives. It's hard though, when I know I won't be seeing most of it for months. How do I decide what I really need and what I can do without for so long?? But, now that I'm merely days away from leaving condo living, I'm very happy and willing to put up with all the trouble. Ahhh... (That's my sigh of relief)
And to go along with a previous post, here's my little boy happy at last (to be moving of course)...

Kindergarten, Here we come!

Today was Shay's first day of Kindergarten! She was so excited, I thought she would burst! She picked out her outfit, shoes, and got her backpack all ready last night. When she woke up this morning, she got dressed like lightning, brushed her teeth, and decided on 2 ponytails for her hair. She didn't want to eat anything for breakfast, but I had her eat some toast and applesauce anyway. And then we were off to school! We got to school a little early so that we could take pictures, and Grandma & Grandpa Lyndie (my kids call them both Lyndie) were there to greet her also! We took lots of pictures and then I walked with her to her classroom. I knew she would do great, but I stuck around for a minute anyway. She was so adorable sitting at her little table! Shay had no problem being left behind. I haven't talked to her yet about it, but I know she loved it! And here are some pictures!

Selling woes

Okay, I really just need to vent my frustrations about trying to sell my house, so you don't have to finish reading this post. This is so disappointing! I've had my place up for sale for about 3 months now. There is a constant stream of condo's for sale in my complex. We have 6 buildings and there are 6 condo's for sale. Now in the time that I've had my place up at least 2 if not 3 condo's have sold. When's it our turn?? I'm especially frustrated because in the last 2 weeks we've had 2 more condo's come up for sale and the most recent one is now sporting an "under contract" sign!!! And I just heard that another unit has an offer on it. What am I doing wrong? At this point I'm feeling like it's never going to happen. We're going to be stuck in condo hell for the rest of our natural lives!!! Help me, please!

SYTYCD!

Anyone who watchs my favorite summer show should be able to figure out that title... Anyway, Shaylee can! Jeff's mom bought her some dance lessons for her birthday and just a couple of weeks ago, the class ended and they put on a little recital! It was so cute and Shay was amazing! I'm always so surprised by how much she remembers and how well she does. She did two dances, one was a ballet number and the other more of a jazz routine. Ah, so adorable! But, why take my word for it... Here are some stills of the event...(My mom did record it for me, but I still need to get the footage from her).

Camping

We went camping last week! Hooray! I missed the clean, cool air. The relaxation. The smell of smoke. Campfire. Ahh... Anyway, we went with the Welchs and then Mom and Dad came up the next day too. And the Welch curse passed to us! First Owen managed to burn two of his fingers by touching a lantern. Then our car decided to completely die! After about an hour of trying everything we could think of, we decided that the battery was at least partly at fault. So, we stayed and the next morning went and bought a battery. That got us home, but it wasn't completely fixed and so Jeff replaced the altenator. And now the car is running smoothly again. Thank goodness. And here are some pictures!

Dallas

We went to Dallas the end of April and we had a lot of fun! It had been about 3 1/2 years since we've gone on vacation, so this was definately needed! In case you were wondering, the drive is a solid 19 hours (when speeding just a tad)... that's right, 19 hours. We drove straight through (both ways), but the kids were both very good. We had a DVD player, which saved us on several occasions, but they really were awesome. So, anyway, while we were in Dallas we did a lot of fun stuff! We went to the Children's Museum, where the kids played with a whole lot of different cool stuff.

Then we did some shopping and made a much shorter drive to College Station to visit more family. Here's a shot of some dang cute kids...

Tax time

I finally did my taxes! I usually do it the beginning of February. (We almost ALWAYS get a refund...) But this year I was a little hesitant. You see, we sold our home before living in it for 2 years... This means we had Capital Gains! Eeks. I was afraid that we would owe money. But, I finally went and did my taxes. Well, it turns out that I get a REFUND! Hooray! What I don't get is how I can get a refund on my Fed's and OWE on my State? What's the deal? Oh, well. I just have to remind myself that I originally thought that I would get NO REFUND, whatsoever. Anyway, I'm just happy now that it's done and I can move on with my life...with a couple of extra bucks in my pocket, too!

Potty...training?

So, we've started potty training Owen. We've been sitting him on the little training potty for a couple of weeks now, but we're stuck in a rut. I just remind myself that it'll come eventually. This morning Owen asked to sit on the potty, so I put him on it and he was just so cute I had to take a picture. Don't worry, these pictures are all G rated.

Sledding!

We went sledding a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun! Shay loved it after a couple of times down the hill. She went by herself a bunch. Owen took a little more convincing, but he started to have a lot of fun too. I spent most of the time taking pictures (I also had a blast! My camera is awesome!), so here's some of our sledding fun!

New computer, new me

Okay, not so much the new me as it is a new computer. But, it is a much better title than just plain new computer! Anyway, we have a new computer... or should I say Laptop. So, a couple of weeks ago our computer decided that it didn't want to turn on anymore. Sweet. So, we took it into a shop and discovered that we had managed to fry our motherboard. I'm not sure how... but there you have it. Anyway, it would cost waaaay to much to replace that crappy old motherboard with a newer crappy motherboard. So we decided to get a new computer and Jeff decided that it needed to be a Laptop. And we just got it today, so this is my giving it a whirl. Jeff's been on it I'm sure ever since it came this afternoon, and has just now let me play with it. Well, it's kind of his, so I am being understanding. So, Welcome me back to the computer/internet world and send me your blog links because I lost all of them with my motherboard!!! Please! Thanks and lots of love!!
